Reach high with a single board – KRONOPLY OSB/3 now also available in storey-high formats

30. April 2011 | KRONOPLY is extending its OSB programme. As of immediately, not only KRONOPLY OSB/F**** but also KRONOPLY OSB/3 is available in storey-high formats.
Production of different storey heights without trimming waste
Equipped with the world’s first ContiRoll® continuous OSB press, the SWISS KRONO GROUP led the way in introducing storey-high OSB panels for wood construction. It was also the first to produce OSB with completely formaldehyde-free binders and switch its entire product portfolio over to this food-safe binding method. In response to the brisk demand for the officially approved KRONOPLY OSB/F**** in storey-high formats, we are now also producing KRONOPLY OSB/3, which is CE-certified as compliant with DIN EN 13986 and suitable for load-bearing and reinforcing applications, in boards 2650 mm, 2800 mm and 3000 mm long with a width of 1250 mm. Starting immediately, it is possible to make KRONOPLY OSB/3-reinforced walls on-site without any joints, in compliance with DIN 1052:2008-12 and DIN EN 1955-1-1 (Eurocode 5).
The storey-high formats enable fast, economic pre-assembly of walls without any crossbeams or joint backing. This opens up new opportunities to realise cost savings in connection with wall constructions for commercial buildings and prefabricated houses. Trimming waste is also minimised or entire eliminated, as various storey-high KRONOPLY OSB/3 formats are available. This approach also makes it easy to ensure airtightness, and KRONOPLY OSB/3 simultaneously acts as a vapour barrier. This enables water-vapour-permeable building without the need for membranes. With their ContiFinish® surface, these strong boards are also ideal for loading-bearing applications in moisture-prone areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms.
