30. January 2017 | Keilhofer and WOOD & BUILD now producing massive timber construction elements

At BAU 2017 in Munich, we presented certificates authorising two more companies to produce patented SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB elements: Keilhofer GmbH in Bavaria and WOOD & BUILD in Belgium.

Uwe Jöst, Managing Director of SWISS KRONO GmbH and SWISS KRONO TEX GmbH & Co. KG, joined Karl A. Wildermuth of the trade periodical Holz-Zentralblatt to present the documents to the heads of both firms. SWISS KRONO GmbH relies exclusively on selected licensees to manufacture the wall, ceiling and roof elements of this massive timber construction system.

The New Licensees: Keilhofer and WOOD & BUILD

“We are very pleased to have gained two very capable timber construction firms, namely Keilhofer and WOOD & BUILD, as licensees,” says Uwe Jöst, Managing Director of SWISS KRONO GmbH and SWISS KRONO TEX GmbH & Co. KG. “Now we are excellently positioned in Germany with a total of three licensees, and are especially proud of the fact that our SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB elements will henceforth also be produced in Belgium.”

Keilhofer in Bavaria has a long tradition that began with its founding as a carpentry firm back in 1921. Today it is specialised in building high-end turnkey homes. At the core of its portfolio are bespoke, individually planned dwellings which is builds in any desired style: tradition or modern, extravagant or classic. The firm’s approximately 50 employees also assemble timber units for roofs and walls, vertical extensions, annexes, garden houses, commercial buildings and entire housing complexes. More information on the company is available at (in German).

WOOD & BUILD belongs to the Debeuckelaere Group headquartered in Handzame/Koortemark, Belgium and has specialised in prefabricated timber modules. Among other things, it makes traditional oakwood roof trusses and thermo-treated tropical wood decking for terraces. With the aid of a UNITEAM CNC machining centre, WOOD & BUILD will now create high-precision SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB elements up to 18 metres long. For more information, visit (in Flemish).

Also counting 3B TEC in Ludwigsfelde, MMD – Magnumboard-Manufaktur-Deutschland in Poppenhausen and the French firm of Henri VERMOT et Fils Sàrl, now a total of five capable licensees are producing SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB elements.

At the SWISS KRONO stand, visitors to BAU were able to convince themselves of this timber construction system. An approximately three-metre-high exhibit showcased the properties and benefits of the elements. It was built by Römmelt Hallenbau, which is also a SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB licensee under the name of MMD – Magnumboard Manufaktur Deutschland. One outstanding feature of these elements is that they can be directly finished on the inside by plastering, painting, tiling or papering them without the need to apply plasterboard first.

We have compiled complete information on this officially approved timber construction system at SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB – the Modern Timber Construction System.
