SWISS KRONO Practical tips OSB

Practical tip with Michael Claus - Extension of a pitched roof

Mostly unused potential hides under the roof: the undeveloped attic. If you want to start the project, you first have to take care of the pitched roof. The planking of the pitch does not necessarily have to be done by a specialist. Michael Claus (salesman with SWISS KRONO TEX) explains two possibilities for dealing the pitched roof with OSB.

Practical tip with Michael Claus - Nail line on OSB panels

How do you fix the OSB board if it covers the middle wooden beam? Measuring and marking the middle is not necessary, says Michael Claus (salesman with SWISS KRONO TEX)! There is a common grid dimension in dry and timber frame construction. SWISS KRONO TEX uses this to save the processors time with the help of a line on the OSB board (nail line) and to facilitate the work. Michael Claus explains details in his video message from his home office.

Practical tip with Michael Claus - Practical tips on the use of OSB

OSB can be used in many ways, both in interior fit-out and decoratively in the visible area. This raises the question, can you use an OSB tongue-and-groove connection on either side? Michael Claus, salesman with SWISS KRONO TEX, knows the answer. With a short video clip from his home office, he gives advice.

SWISS KRONO Practical tips Laminate Flooring

Praxistipp mit Oliver Narr – KRONOTEX Floorstudio

The favourite for the next renovation of the living room floor is certain - but how does the decor actually look in the room? That requires a lot of imagination. Or an Internet connection! In our floor studio you can lay our laminate virtually and get a better overview of the floor in the room beforehand. Oliver Narr, a member of the SWISS KRONO TEX sales team, shows how the tool works.

Practical tip with René Schütte - Clic Laminate – Profiles that grow with you

"Is an 8 mm laminate floor sufficient for my purposes or do I need a 10 mm laminate after all?" This or something similar is probably the case for many people who want to choose the right one from the wide range of laminate flooring on offer. Apart from the thickness of the panel, there are other differences that are interesting for the purchase decision. René Schütte, a sales employee at SWISS KRONO TEX, explains one important feature: the profile that grows with you.

Achim Scholz, Product Manager at SWISS KRONO TEX, talks to us with a short video clip from his home office. He explains the importance we attach to the feel of our products and how the surface structures differ from one another.

SWISS KRONO Installation

#preparations

Before installing laminate flooring, it’s helpful to keep a few basic facts in mind: the dimensions and any special characteristics of the room, available tools and materials, and the preferred thickness and structure of the flooring. You start with the #underlayment.

#underlayment

Various underlayment materials are available for meeting different requirements. On mineral substrates, it’s essential to spread a vapour barrier before installing underlayments to insulate against impact sound and reflected walking noise. This is the basis for laying the actual laminate flooring using the “cut-and-clic” method.

#cut-and-clic

Laying laminate panels is child’s play because the panels simply snap together when angled and then pressed with a thumb. Our DIY specialist, Thomas, shows how much space should be left along walls and between joints. Here’s a tip: you don’t need a rule to cut them to size! And what about #special situations like doors and heating installations?

#special situations

If you don’t want to shorten door frames, this clip shows an alternative. It’s also easy to install flooring around heating pipes. The room is rounded off with #accessories.

#accessories

What about transitions to other rooms? The last step is placing the skirting boards – the different styles give the room a special touch. Now the important thing is proper care. #care

#care & #repair

Laminate floors last a long time if they’re properly cared for and treated. Visible damage can be quickly and easily fixed: DIY specialist Thomas shows how to replace a whole panel in the middle of a floor.

The world’s longest OSB board for a new school in Nuremberg

In early March 2016, the world’s longest OSB board – measuring an astounding 17-and-a-half metres – was manufactured at SWISS KRONO in Heiligengrabe. The first delivery was transported by a special convoy to Erne AG Holzbau in Stein, Switzerland. The customer had ordered the extra-long OSB boards for a new school that is being built in Nuremberg. Over the course of only three weeks, the Swiss timber construction specialist turned them into 86 prefabricated modules to serve as temporary classrooms. In each module, three OSB Longboards were used for the floor and ceiling.

In mid-May the 86 modules were taken to Bavaria’s second-largest city and installed at the Maria Ward School for girls to temporarily accommodate the students while it is being torn down and completely rebuilt, a project that will take four to five years to complete.

Length Record at SWISS KRONO – OSB Boards 17.50 Metres Long

After production had successfully premiered, in mid-March 2016 the first extra-long OSB boards from SWISS KRONO (with a length of 17.5 m) were transported on six special trucks to ERNE AG Holzbau in Switzerland. The customer needed the SWISS KRONO products to build modules for a new school. The convoy attracted plenty of attention on its way across most of Germany.
